In Florida we used to have a radio station called 101.5 The Point, that used to play exclusively 80's and early 90's. This shit used to be aired at least 3 times a week, and I forgot all about it until my mom recommended this song to me and I instantly was filled with weird nostalgic memories where this song was playing in the background

This song makes me cry. One night, after my parents split up but before my dad remarried, I was with him and his girlfriend and this song came on in the car. As I watched them holding hands on the console, I knew it was over for good between my bio parents. I sat in silence in the back of the car and tried not to cry in front of them. This had to be fifteen years ago or so. I was sad my world was over and happy that my dad wouldn’t be sad anymore. I can’t hear it without thinking of that.

In my opinion, this is Elton's best song. Very nostalgic and sadness, but, of course, with hope and faith in the future, with regretting and remembrances about the past. And, naturally, with soft and smooth arrangement, nice and pleasant, sensitive, touching Elton's vocal and lyrics. So sad, that's song underrated so much!

You don't hear Elton singing about hoes, drive-bys, and guns. You hear beautiful music. Period. Elton John will live on long after he has passed from this place. His music will live on in the hearts of all his fans. You can't be as talented as he is , without touching the lives of millions of people. I'm glad he touched mine, he has given me over a half century of beautiful music to hear. I remember building a 1969 Chevy Chevelle while listening to Goodbye Yellow Brick Road on the radio in 1974. Been a fan ever since. I sometimes wonder what happened to my friend, and the beautiful car we built together.
